From the Owners:

From sunrise to sunset, 51 Bridge is bathed in beautifully dappled and direct sun. Its unique position on the land provides perfect angles of light that touch gardens and peer through many windows. It is inviting at the start of days and can be dramatic heading into sunset. Because Ross is north of Mt. Tamalpais, its weather is often desirable most of the year.

Flowers and flowering trees happen on the property through the seasons. One of our favorite experiences in these gardens is watching the many hummingbirds that visit the flowers at the foot of the front patio. It’s a magical kind of everyday happening. The multi levels of flat areas and connecting paths always keep us active and moving about the full property.

For our sons, it’s more of an adventure space. What they appreciate most, however, is that finding a friend to pal around with for the day is just a matter of walking or biking around.

There are kids and couples always walking along Bridge Road. Joggers and bikers love the route, and on occasion, there are folks with classic cars and even horse riders that pass by.

This is a family neighborhood very close to vast recreational spaces, the local school (exceptional) and small town with just the right amount of comfort-type shops, common public areas, and more. Saturdays and Sundays are enhanced by the sounds of nearby morning church bells (a European feeling) and cheers coming from baseball and soccer fields. The entrance to the town is marked by the lovely Marin Art and Garden Center. We love the atmosphere of Ross.

The house itself, we think, is a work of art. Built originally in the 1930’s, its classic Spanish-Mediterranean style is striking from the road. We love the architectural shape and design of the exterior and especially the old world arched windows (original). With time and love, we spent much to restore its original design. After some research and locating a well known Sonoma based blacksmith/artist, we added hand crafted iron railings to the top outside and balcony areas. We often sit outside on warm nights with friends or family for great meals and a glass (or two) of wine.

Inside, we love the main living areas. Our integral color plaster walls remind us of Italian countryside lifestyles. In the evenings, the custom created glass lights throughout the top floor, make everyone look good sitting below them. We also literally flew two artists from Florence, Italy to hand paint the living room ceiling and decorative beams. This painting had been photographed and displayed in a special article in Marin Magazine. The master bedroom ceiling was also gold leafed by hand on site. We’ve tried to mix charm, creativity and simplicity, and focus it toward a day by day family friendly environment. Like most, we live a great deal in our kitchen. It’s open space and views to the gardens make this relaxing despite the volume levels of endless discussions.

There are countless great memories here and more to be had.
